Kid Updates

So I thought I'd just update everyone on our little ones and what they've been up to.

Tayson is doing great!  He is 5 1/2.  He's reading like crazy and I can't believe how fast he catches onto new words.  He's doing really good in school and when I pick him up the first thing he says is, "I didn't get my name on the board."  He is definitely a handful though.  Very dramatic and you never know who you're going to get; Jekyl or Hyde.  When he decides to be his angel self, I'm like putty in his hands.  He's sweet, loving, helpful, caring, thoughtful, clean, pretty much the perfect kid.  He'll get himself ready for school, make his bed, brush his teeth and do his hair before I've even gotten up.  He even tells me how much he loves me and how sorry he is for not listening all those times before and that he doesn't know why he does bad things.  Now, if I could just figure out a way to keep him like that all the time.  At least the good times help us through the hard times.  He is very clever and witty.  He comes up with answers to questions even if he has no clue and they're pretty good too.  He is great with Tatum and can make her laugh like no one else can.  He says he wants to be a rare archaeologist, because we told him archaeologists like Indiana Jones are rare.  He also says he wants to be like Indiana Jones, Spiderman, and Jesus.  He loves legos and builds so many creative things.  He is growing up fast and his church pants, which fit last week, are now floods.  He loves to ride his scooter and likes to show me tricks.  I'm very impressed by the balance that he has.  He tries to convince me that he is so good on his scooter that he is never going to wreck so there is no reason to wear a helmet(of course he still has to wear his helmet).  He loves to explore with all his neighbor buddies and I'm so glad we have the room to do it and the jungle at the end of the lawn.  Tayson made some new year's resolutions all by himself and I was impressed with what he wrote.  Jay, Tayson and I went through these categories and this are the goals he wanted to make;
Education:  learn Spanish
Physical Health:  Eat more vegetables
Employment:  Take out the trash
Preparedness:  Help us with a garden
Spiritual, emotional and social:  read scriptures everyday and be better at sharing
He wrote some of them down and drew pictures for the rest.
We love our little guy and love being his parents

Tatum just puts a smile on all our faces.  She is 10 months old.  She started crawling this last week and now is finding things she shouldn't have like: garbage cans, speakers, wires.  We finally have to baby proof and we totally forgot what it's like to have a little explorer around the house again.  She loves to play hide and seek and follows me around the the house.  She's just like her brother and loves books.  She enjoys being read to and looking at the pictures.  She surprisingly doesn't put books in her mouth.  She still does put everything else.  She loves to babble about things and is using some words.  We're not sure if she knows what she's saying, but she uses them, for the most part, at the right time so who knows.  She says:  momma, dadda, Tayson, baby, baba, and what'sis (which I'm guessing is what's this)  She actually said the name of one of our friends, Bill, the other day.  It was pretty funny.  She now has 8 teeth and has a couple of molars breaking through.  She really loves food.  She is willing to try most anything.  We even had some tofu stir fry with brown rice the other day and she just devoured it.  It wasn't a big hit with the boys though.  She's a great sleeper going to bed at 7:30 and waking up at 6:30.  She has 2 naps a day for a couple of hours each.  I've been very blessed with good sleepers.  She is so silly and enjoys making us laugh.  I'm not sure how much she weighs right now but at her 9 month she was 18 lbs and I can't remember her height but it was in the 25th percentile.

Where Tayson thinks money comes from

We were having a Family Home Evening about finances and I asked Tayson
"Where does money come from?"
His response was.

"Money comes from the presidents.  The presidents make it and when they die their family gives it to all the world."

We laughed pretty hard that he would be so clever to come up with that.
