Airman Leadership School Graduate

Well, after 6 weeks of ALS Jay is finally done and he was really surprised to be awarded the Distinguished Graduate Award, which means he was the top 10% of the class overall.  Now he can officially be a Non-Commissioned Officer, and sew on Staff Sergeant on July 1st.

Deep Sea Fishing Excursion

This is the second time I went out but the first time I didn't take any pictures, and we did not catch the Mahi.

The other 40 fish are Yellowfin Tuna and Skipjack (Katsu).

Tayson Turns 5

Tayson wanted a Spongebob party so we decided it would be fun to let the kids make their own
Spongebobs.  After going to a few stores we finally found all the large yellow sponges that we needed.  The kids had a good time.

This is Tatum and her best girl friend, Miya.  Miya is only 2 1/2 weeks older than Tatum and it's fun to see them learn and grow together.  They look like they're having a good time at the party.

I did my best to make a Spongebob cake.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I think I like the challenge each year of making his cake.  Tayson had fun helping me too.

Children's Museum and the Zoo

A few weeks ago we went to the Children's Museum and Zoo with our friends Chris and Allison.  We had a lot of fun as you can see.  I'm so glad they warn you about the Lion's with such a detailed poster.  I had to put a picture in of this bird.  I was truly amazed after all the animal books I've read to Tayson that I hadn't seen this animal before and it was really cool.  I loved the giant chair.  Everyone looks so cute in it.

Tatum Updates

Tatum is growing up so fast.  On May 16th she rolled over.  I totally missed it.  I laid her on her tummy and went into the kitchen for a minute and came out and she had rolled herself right over.  I couldn't get her to do it again.  Then on Sunday we finally got to see what she could do.  It was so cute.  She is such a little princess.  My friend Candace got her this little dress and she looks so cute.  Tatum absolutely loves the tub.  Yesterday I set her down while I turned on the water and a huge grin covered her face because she knew she was getting in the tub.  It really surprises me though that I can't get a picture of her smiling in the tub.  Once I pull the camera out she gets a little shy I guess.

Mother's Day!!!

Mother's Day is such a crazy and emotional day for me.  I'm torn on whether I enjoy it or not.  I definitely like sending gifts and cards to my mom, mother-in-law, and grandmas but I think for myself I have a hard time.  I seem to set my expectations too high and then I feel sad if they aren't met and that isn't really fair to my family.  This morning Jay and Tayson came and brought me a gift while I was feeding Tatum and then made me breakfast (which was very delicious) and told me Happy Mother's Day giving me kisses and hugs.  All of that should have made my day, but of course in my mind (without telling anyone else my plans) I expecting Jay to get the kids ready for church by himself, the kids to be perfectly behaved all day and for me to be able to focus just on me and what I wanted to do the rest of the day.  Well, things didn't quite workout that way.  I had to get the kids ready for church because Jay decided he needed a little more sleep, Tayson didn't want to go up and sing with the primary and once he got up there they were finished with the song so then he was upset and crying because he didn't get to sing the song.  Tatum was being very good but decided to have a blowout and get poop on my skirt.  Thankfully my skirt had a floral pattern so it seemed to blend in quite well.   My day was not going the best and I was getting frustrated, but then I thought about all the other times during the year when Jay is extremely helpful, Tayson is very sweet and I don't have poop on my clothes.  All the bad feelings seemed to just melt away and I began to realize that this is just a part of being a mom and why I'm lucky enough to be able to celebrate this day along with all the wonderful mothers in my life.

2 Month Checkup

Last week we had Tatum's 2 month checkup.  She is now 12 lbs.  She is growing so fast.  After she had her shots, Tayson and I were walking toward the pharmacy and I said, "We need to go down here to the pharmacy to get some tylenol for Tatum. "  Tayson said, "These guys down here don't like Jesus very much".  Then I said, "Really, how come?"  Then he, being such a smart little guy said, "yea, the pharmacies didn't believe what he said, so they hung him on the cross".  Of course I couldn't help but laugh and said "I think you mean pharisees".  Tayson surprises me all the time with how much he knows.  What a cutie.
